Any suggestions? Messenger freezes on my desktop everytime. It is useless to me on that system. It's windows xp. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice now.

Thanks for any help.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling it?

Hmmmmmm, I don't know why it would be freezing. If you can find another version of MSN Messenger, try that.

Yeah, I would love to get 7.5 back, but Messenger won't let me anymore. I hate being forced to update software that works just fine. *smile*

I found a way to use 7.5. well, not me but somebody did. Find the MSN messenger icon but instead of entering on it hit alt+enter to get the properties. Then control tab to compatibility and check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select windows 2000.

Just be careful with messenger plus. When installing don't install some advertising thing that comes with it. I heard that is not good. But i never tried messenger plus myself.
One of my friends said that messenger 7.5 had to stop because of a security issue. But microsoft when back and updated messenger 7.0 and if you download it it works fine without saying that you have to install the latest one. But i didn't understand why did they updated 7.0 and not 7.5? Very strange.
For those interested here is the link to download the updated 7.0 which works. I tried it myself.
The link is http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cf49c56c-8b3e-4eae-9904-9505f47bed45
Enjoy.

I know this post is older, but thank you for suggesting the compatibility mode. I finally tried it, and so far so good! It's so nice to have the old msn messenger back! Now, if I could only get traditional hotmail back! *smile*
